Yoga Equipment – Information You Should Know

Yoga is a well known discipline for body, mind and spirit. With its ever increasing popularity worldwide, it has rapidly adapted to people’s needs and has become more comfortable to practice in the home or in the classroom. Because of these factors and the fact that it has become much higher profile, it has now led to the appearance of a wide variety of yoga equipment being used for classes or for practicing at home.

Essentially, this means that before starting any type of yoga class, you should undertake a little bit of research to ensure that you find out which type of yoga will be right for your needs. A Bit about Yoga

Optional Equipment

Other yoga equipment consists of blankets, yoga blocks, yoga balls and straps. Blankets can be used in certain positions to elevate a part of the body or to achieve a particular position if students cannot do this by themselves. They may also be used purely to make the position more comfortable and to allow students to maintain it for a longer period of time. Yoga blocks are used to align the body properly, for example where the students hand can’t touch the floor. Straps are especially designed for maintaining a pose or to stretch muscles more effectively. They are used in poses where you are unable to reach or hold a position for more then a few seconds.

Other Things to Consider

In addition to the yoga equipment necessary in class, you can also find other helpful tools such as information material, namely videos, DVDs and books etc that you can use at home, or can study when you have some spare time. All of these things will help you to maintain a broader outlook and progress more quickly in your Yoga.

For those of you willing to continue your exercise outside of the class, you can buy yoga kits. A yoga kit consists of all the necessary elements, e.g. mat, blocks, balls, books and videos to help you progress much faster. Alternatively, there is Yoga equipment available to help create a warm, ambient atmosphere while you practice your yoga. In these kits you will typically find tapes with relaxing background music, aromatherapy tools, candles, bowls and essences etc. Further to this, you can even buy charm jewelries or yoga greeting cards.

Simply Yoga

I titled this article Simply Yoga because I want to give you a down to earth, everyday view of yoga. You really don’t have to stand on your head, or tie yourself in knots to perform yoga and it’s great for your body, mind, and spirit. What I give you here is taken from my own personal experience with yoga.

Yoga Stretches
Whenever the subject of yoga comes up most people think you have to be flexible to do it. The beauty of simple yoga stretches is that you don’t have to be flexible to gain the benefits of it. For those of you that are out of shape and want to change that, yoga is a good way to start.

The advice that all yoga teachers pass on to their students is, do not push your body beyond its limits, it is not supposed to hurt. Start with simple stretches, when you feel a slight pull in your muscles, and I mean slight, that’s where you stop and hold the posture for a few seconds and slowly come out of the posture. Find the yoga postures that you feel most comfortable doing and with time you will discover improvement in your flexibility.

If getting up and down from the floor is difficult you can do Chair Yoga ( Visit: Living Words of Wisdom.). This is especially good if you are recovering from an illness or injury.

Yoga and Health
Your body was designed for movement. Muscles need to be put to work and need to be kept reasonably flexible. Yoga can warm up the body before performing strenuous exercise or sports activities, this helps prevent injury.

Yoga is a wonderful stress reliever. Stress is the leading cause of most health issues these days. You have a stressful job, family situations, even just thinking about the world’s events can stress you out. Carrying all that stress day in and day out causes health issues, headaches, high blood pressure, insomnia, just to name a few. All these left unattended build into bigger health issues. Yoga can relieve stress, therefore, the issues that result from stress are relieved as well. Yes, it’s simply yoga and its simplicity is the key that makes it so easy to incorporate into your daily life.

Everyday Yoga
I know every day sounds like a time consuming task, but it really isn’t, trust me.

Did you know that the simple stretch you do each morning when you wake up can be considered a yoga move? That’s the best and easiest time to incorporate yoga into your day. You can do it while still in bed, there are many yoga postures that are traditionally done on the floor that can also be done on your bed, how comfy is that! When your feet hit the floor first thing in the morning you can also do a few standing yoga stretches.

I urge you to get a good book of yoga postures and try the ones you feel most comfortable doing once a day in the morning or evening (a great time to release those tensions of the day). Even better to do it both morning and evening it’s a wonderful start and end to your day.

You don’t have to perform an hour long routine every day, but just one, two, or three of your favorite yoga postures will get you going on the way to better health. Progress begins with one small step at a time, remember it’s simply yoga and its simplicity will produce wonderful benefits for your body, mind, and spirit.

Facial Yoga, Is This The New Face Lift?

While it is undeniable that the benefits of yoga are endless and far reaching many are still skeptical of a new trend being called yoga facial toning. The yoga element will definitely produced positive results but does it actually give you a face lift without the surgery? This may indeed be one of those things you may just have to tryout to find the answer for yourself.Yoga facial toning is considered to be a specific exercise program which stimulates, firms, and lifts every muscle of the face and neck. The premise is that exercising the muscles of the face and neck will result in drastic improvements of an aged face and also prevention of further damage. All muscles in your body regardless of where they are located will experience atrophy when not used and stimulated.

There are additional side effects of facial yoga that may indeed lead to a younger appearance. Yoga is centered around the body, mind and spirit connection and the balance of ones vital force. When you leave a yoga class you will definitely experience an unexplainable combination of feels including increased energy, at peace, free of stress, and a sense of clarity which leads to a shift in awareness. If you feel more vibrant you will most certainly look more vibrant. In addition, we most certainly wear stress on our faces, therefore it stands to reason we should also see in the face when this stress is alleviated.

Whatever the reason, many people swear by facial yoga toning so it may require some experimentation on your part to determine for yourself if this is a trend you want to be a part of. If yoga facial toning does indeed return the toted results it is definitely a great alternative to the cost and risk that surgery offers. At the very least it would offer the proven benefits of total body yoga not to mention laughs and good hearted fun, where else can you stick out your tongue and not get a disapproving look.
