Yin Yoga involves deep stretching and holding the poses for a long time. It is a quiet practice and the poses are done seated or laying as opposed to standing. The idea is to stretch the connective tissue as well as the muscles.

Restorative Yoga is poses that are more "opening" than stretching and the poses are held for a long period of time as well. It uses props such as blankets, straps, sandbags and blocks for support. Very relaxing.

Hope that helps!
